Prices shown are the test price on each provider's page and may not include fees, taxes or promotions. Prices change often, so confirm at checkout. Fees we saw:

  • Quest: Adds a $6 physician service fee per order (shown on Quest's product pages).
  • Labcorp OnDemand: Check the cart for any added fees.
  • Ulta Lab Tests: Ulta's FAQ says a specimen collection (draw) fee, standard $12.95, is added at checkout.
  • HealthLabs: Check the cart for any added fees.
  • Walk-In Lab: Adds a $6 physician fee per order (shown on Walk-In Lab's product pages).
  • Personalabs: Check the cart for any added fees.
Availability varies by state. Direct-to-consumer lab testing is not offered everywhere. For example, Quest's consumer site has not offered testing in Arizona, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, and New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island have had restrictions on ordering tests without a clinician. Rules and provider coverage change, so confirm availability for your state at checkout.

What it measures

STD panels bundle tests for common sexually transmitted infections. Basic panels usually cover chlamydia and gonorrhea, often with HIV and syphilis. Larger panels add herpes, hepatitis, trichomoniasis and others. Panels are not the same across providers, so compare the 'Includes' column, not just the price.

Who orders it

People order STD panels for routine screening, after a new partner, or when a clinician suggests it. If you have symptoms, contact a clinician; some infections need prompt treatment.

How to prepare

Many urine-based tests ask you not to urinate for 1 to 2 hours before the sample. Some infections take time to show up on tests after exposure, so ask the provider or a clinician about the right timing.

Frequently asked questions

Are online STD tests private?

Results go to your account with the provider rather than through your insurance. Read each provider's privacy policy for details.

Why do STD panel prices vary so much?

Panels include different infections and test methods. Compare what is included, not only the price.

What if I have symptoms?

Contact a clinician. Some infections need prompt treatment, and a clinician can advise on testing timing.
